If you did not attend one of the largest international jewellry show in the world. You can take look at the following highlights video of 2007 Hong Kong International Jewellry Show.
Well. According to the people I know, who attended the show. There are more sellers than buyers. It seems to me that the Jewelry business was hit by some sort of economic slow down. As you can see in the video, there are not a lot of visitors. After the first opening day, it’s almost empty like a warehouse.

I’ve been working on garnet bracelets along with the other work that I need to get done as well as playing with one of my new Christmas presents: Adobe Photoshop. The garnet bracelets are going well, the Photoshop less so, but DH got me a great book to go along with the software so that I can try to learn the way that I usually learn best (reading a book!). Some of the pictures are okay, but nothing special yet. I do like the photo of the triple strand garnet bracelet above, and the close-up of the garnet, iolite, and lampwork below. 
The bracelet below features different garnets, not just faceted and smooth or different shapes, but different colours as well including Hessonite garnets, green grossularite garnets, and rhodolite garnets. The lampwork beads are by one of my favorite lampwork artists - Lynn Nurge. They are great little swirly shaped nuggets full of opal-like colours in burgundy and amber. If you scroll further down, you will see that the other picture of this garnet bracelet is a bit too light - I haven’t gotten the light and colour features quite right yet.
Another double-stranded garnet bracelet (below) features the lampwork beads of Robin Weber. These shell lampwork beads are gorgeous, very naturalistic with a soft finish. Karen Hill Tribes silver is always special (such high quality sterling) and the little shell charm and a sand dollar charm which is hidden here makes this one unique. The toggle clasp has cabochon garnets set in each end of the toggle bar.
For me, one of the biggest difficulties when working with garnet beads is that it is hard to find lampwork beads that I like to match, blend or even contrast with the gemstones in a way that is pleasing. The other difficulty with working with garnets is that I can never seem to get enough good quality garnet gemstones that are large - when I can get any that are actually large at all!

We just received a very cool email from Ragdoll telling us how much she likes our 14g UV Acrylic Septum Spikes
available in 8 colors. She chose the classically cybertastic UV “Mt Dew” Yellow/Green that glows like crazy in blacklights. This has got to look insanely cool with a matching hairpiece… I might have to get one and find out!

Clients often ask me what I enjoy most about being a jewelry store and my answer simply is, “Custom Creation”! Nothing in my store is quite as fun as making a new piece of jewelry for a client that only they will ever own and enjoy!
What does custom creating a new jewelry item entail and how do you go about it? Many times, I’ve had clients bring in an idea for a new ring or pendant that was simply scribbled on a napkin at a restaurant and guess what? We were able to make it for them! Whatever your idea is, simply stop by or call me and maybe I can help you design a “Mock Up” piece or image for you to view on my computer or by creating what is known as a wax casting. This way, you can see beforehand what your idea will look like and whether or not you’ll like it! We can easily design rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets or whatever you like out of such metals as platinum, 10k, 14k, 18k, or 22k white or yellow gold, sterling silver and even titanium!

Everyone does like a party don’t they? Sure they do! This friday night, May 4th from 6pm ’til 8pm, we’re going to have a party here in my store, “The Gold Mine”!
What kind of party? Well for starters, my lovely wife Angie will have her famous “Chocolate Fountain” on display that you can dip fruit, cookies, crackers..(sorry, don’t dip your finger)! The atmosphere will be light and soft music playing, just a gathering of friends and my best customers to show them whats new in the jewelry industry for mom…Hey, Mother’s Day is almost here (May 13th)…I gotta help these folks get ready!
Nothing quite makes an impression on Mom (other than you visiting or calling her once and awhile) like fine jewelry! I’ve got to say that this year’s new spring jewelry collection we’ve assembled is one of the best ever!
Also, we have a closeout jewelry case of some old friends(jewelry) that we’d like to move so we’ve marked them down at or below our actual cost to give them a good adoptive home!

Yes, I must admit…its true! What you might ask? Diamonds really are a girl’s best friend….and geez, we men are stuck with a dog! So gentlemen, do you “Want To Get Out of the Doghouse?” If so, I recommend treating that special woman in your life to a beautiful piece of fine jewelry from time to time!
Seriously, think of a woman’s jewelry to her as you would think of your favorite item, example: fishing boat, hunting rifle, sports cars, motorcycles…you get the picture?
It really is quite inexpensive compared to some of the items we men hold dear and trust me…women treasure their jewelry for years to come!
When that special occasion rolls around, fine jewelry really is a hit! The gift we men give our spouses or girlfriends says “A Lot” about how we truly feel toward our special loved one…so remember this when you’re picking out that “Just Right” item for her….don’t try to get out on the cheap…go ahead and go for the gusto….it’ll be the best “Wife Insurance” you’ve ever purchased!
